Diablo 2 Resurrected Alpha Technique: find in this article my test on the first two acts as well as all the major info!

Preamble

Since this test is for a game remake, the test conditions will change slightly.
Indeed, the gameplay being inherent to the original game, the goal of this test is not to judge the gameplay of diablo 2 but rather the reconstruction work done by Blizzard.
I will of course talk to you about gameplay, but it will not impact the final score.

Graphic

The or Blizzard has not spared its efforts, it is on the design. The game is beautiful and the definitions allow you to see widely around the characters. The animations are very neat and show a high quality. I was able to test on my main monitor in 2560 x 1440 and on my TV in 4k, the game is still on top. Without a doubt a very good point for the game.
In addition, these graphics do not deteriorate the performance of the game which is very fast when loading.

Interface

Overall, the new interface offered is sober, clear and stylish and allows easy access to the information sought. The menus are also much clearer and more extensive.
A small flat for the skills, the description of the spell remains a little old school, and for the statistics which lack a little clarity. I would have liked to see a second sheet with important information like FCR (faster casting rate) FHR (faster hit recovery) and damage reduce, crucial stats for almost all character builds.
An improvement in the inventory would also be welcome, to avoid having to choose between charms and loot. The stash has been enlarged and has a chest shared with your other characters. However, no stack of gems, you will quickly be stuck in place, but the shared chest function will allow you to more easily manage your mules.

Loyalty to the original

Another very important point is the fidelity compared to the first game. It is not necessarily easy to reconstruct an existing opus without distorting it.
On the gameplay side, the sensations of Diablo 2 are immediate. We directly find the magic of the opus in its remake, and the pleasure is immediate! On the other hand, this old gameplay can destabilize new players, to give you a few examples:

• As you move, you lose stamina which will cause you to walk while waiting to recuperate. Stamina potions solve this problem, however.
• To break a barrel, you will have to make an auto attack, because casting a spell or a rain of arrows will not make them give way.
• When you die you will find yourself without gear in town and you will have to go get your body in order to avoid losing the gold that was on you and regain some of the lost experience.
• Equipment has durability and must be constantly repaired, just as your quiver becomes empty and you will have to buy arrows or bolts!

Death will strip you, you are free to go and recover your gold!

Price versus content

Blizzard says the game had to be pretty much rebuilt from scratch in order to see the light of day. With an announced price of 0 euros, we will currently have the right to a functional version in super HD of the original diablo 40. I personally find the price a bit high, but which a priori is justified by the complete reconstruction work. I still expected a price rather around 2 euros, or a possible reduction to those who own Diablo 30 and its expansion.

The interrogation

Having played a good fifteen years of Diablo 2, whether in the classic version, its extension, at the time of uber XP and then of the return to baal-runs, I wonder all the same endgame interest Of the game. There will certainly be seasons, pvp and a lot of baal runs, but is it enough to captivate players now? We could possibly hope for new content but avoiding at all costs a distortion of the game. We can think for example with a new type of uber as may offer some Diablo 2 mods that have kept this essence.
