Kill Immune Diablo 2 Resurrected: to counter immunity issues and kill those immune to cold, fire and lightning!
Cold Mastery, Less Resistance and Conviction
Before going into the details of this guide, I will come back to the differences between Cold Mastery, Lesser Resistance and Conviction:
- Cold Mastery will penetrate your opponent's Cold Defense, and so only a portion of your damage will be dealt. Understand that the enemy is still immune to the cold but you manage "a little" to cross. This mechanism is new on D2R and currently the question arises if it is a bug or an intention of the developers, because it was not present on D2. Still, the damage inflicted remains very low
- Lesser Resistance and Conviction lower cold resistance, making it vulnerable, and much more effective.
- Be careful, Lesser Resistance works on poison resistance, but not Conviction
- Conviction is complicated to achieve with Infinity, so I will explain other methods to you.
Cold damage with Cold Mastery on an immune enemy
Tip 1, use Lesser Resistance
First tip that I offer you, we are going to recover a necromancer wand with Lesser Resistance charges, there is some information to know:
- you can easily find one at Akara or Drogan, in Nightmare (less level but easier to find)
- the spell will be level 1, 2 or even 3 and is not affected by skill bonuses
- you will therefore have a weak area but this trick will be useful on bosses or for runs from Travincal to Hell
- repairing this object is expensive, if you don't have the money you can:
- buy another one, they are easily found
- use the cube formula: 1 Ort rune + 1 gem cut with your weapon, repairs and reloads the weapon
- it is also very practical to manage double immunities, especially if you have a hybrid build (see section 3)
The wand at Drogan's nightmare
Tip 2, Mercenary WITHOUT Infinity
Your mercenary will be a main asset when it comes to managing summons, so be sure to build it well. The most common mistake is to equip yourself before your mercenary, whereas in this case it will be more interesting to equip him first. If you find a good armor with 3 sockets, then don't rush to make your class armor, but save it for your mercenary!
- do not necessarily play Insight, you can use The Reaper's Toll or Tomb Reaver which do great damage
- the helmet from the Guillaume's Face orphan call set
- Duel (Duress) armor for resistance and damage or Treachery if you don't have an Um rune
To note :
- Insight hits hard and doesn't just give mana! Do it on the best Hast weapon you can find!
- you can also consider other mercenaries depending on your drops, for example if you come across a Windforce or GrandFather, Act 1 and 5 mercenaries will be happy
You will see your mercenary be much more useful, and immune mobs a distant memory!
Tip 3, take hybrid talents
You don't have to go on your Endgame build with just one damage type. Certainly, you will hurt less overall, but it will be much easier to manage the whole game. I give you some examples with some level 65 builds (the right level to start in Hell by playing elementary) below:
- Sorcerer Hybrid Ice - Fire
- Sorcerer Hybrid Ice - Lightning
- Amazon Bow Hybrid Ice - Fire
- Amazon Javelin Thrower Hybryde Lightning - Poison
The skills of the Ice Lightning Hybrid sorcerer
The skills of the Ice Fire Hybrid sorcerer
Amazon Poison Lightning Hybrid Javelin Skills
The skills of the Amazon Arc Hybrid Ice Fire
No more nightmare for immune enemies in Hell! And no need for Infinity to overcome it! With these few tips you should be able to complete Hell Mode in Diablo 2 Resurrected much more easily! Thanks to Dem for his help on the subject!
