Reminder, Obsession, and Sorcerer's Staff Base
Obsession is the new runic word for Staff of sorcerer, allowing to have good bonuses. It is not limited to wizards, but will be interesting on a good white base, giving up to two +3 to certain skills. This runic word also makes the item invulnerable, although this is not very useful for staffs, but you can do it on an ethereal staff. Finally, it costs Zod and Ist in high level runes and is therefore quite affordable.
- Obsession - 4 skills, 65 fcr, 60% FHR, 20% life, 65 resistance, 30% MF, knockdown, 10 vita 10 energy
- White sorcerer's staff - twice +3 to a skill, such as +3 lightning mastery and thunderbolt, see with an extra +1 like teleport or ice armor
Be careful, Spirit requires 156 strength to be carried, as many points saved by playing Obsession!

The only real interest of Obsession will be if you find a staff +3 Hydra and + 3 Orb of Ice or +3 Lightning +3 Mastery of Lightning even a +1 teleport to save points

Obsession VS Death Fathom
As a reminder, Death Fathom's statistics:
- Death Fathom - 3 sorcerer, 20 FCR, 15-30% cold damage, lightning and fire resistance 25-40
The 15-30% cold damage with a plus a 5/5 ice gems in the item is crucial for your ice sorcerer and so you're best off picking Death Fathom.

Obsession VS Eschuta
Here is the comparison for Eschuta:
- Eschuta - 1 to 3 sorcerer, 40 FCR, 10 to 20% fire and lightning damage, 20 to 30 energy
Eschuta is far worse, simply because the added fire and lightning damage is added to your fire and lightning mastery. You will therefore have instead of 500% more fire damage, for example, 520, which is largely negligible. So you will play Obsession or Oculus!

Thus, you can therefore use Obsession if you have a very good white staff base for your sorcerer, but only if you do not wish to play Death Fathom, remaining the best damage option for an ice sorcerer on Diablo 2 Resurrected.
