Preamble

In this guide I tell you why 3-hole armor with 15% defense is much more expensive than 4-hole armor with 15% defense, in the same way an elite 5-hole vs 6 ethereal weapon!

Larzuk VS the Horadrim Cube

First thing you need to understand is that Larzuk will always give the maximum number of holes on a white or larger white object. This can be very handy for Spirituality on a Colossus Vouge, as it can have up to four holes, or Fortitude on elite armor, as they all have max four holes. If, however, you want to make an Enigma with three runes or Infinity on a Giant Thresher, Lazruk will no longer know of any use to you, and you will have to look at the Cube formula as a first solution. You will have between 1 and X holes, X being the maximum possible obtainable, so for example between 1 to 4 holes on an elite armor, and 1 to 6 holes on the Giant Thresher. Here are the formulas:

  • Ral + Amn + Pure Amethyst + Weapon
  • Ral + Thul + pure sapphire + helmet
  • Tal + Amn + Pure Ruby + Shield
  • Tal + Thul + Pure Topaz + Body Armor

You can see that it is not very reliable, and here is the first rule:

  • an object with enough hole less than the max holes costs more

Here are some examples with the objects below:

  • Ethereal Scarab Shell: 1-4 holes via cube, 4 holes via Larzuk
  • Ethereal Colossus Sword and Beserker's Ax: 1-6 holes via cube, 6 holes via Lazruk

Superior Items VS the Horadrim Cube

There is a second effect to take into account, the Superior affix, ie a white object with a bonus. You can of course make a runic word in it, here is what is most interesting:

  • Weapons: increased damage (% ED), up to 15%
  • Armor: increased defense (% ED), up to 15%

Now the big problem with this affix is that it prevents the cube formula from working. That is, if you find elite 15% ED white armor, the only possible holes to add will be 4 via Lazruk. It will be impossible to have three holes. So the only way to get elite three hole 15% defense armor is to find it as is, and that's of course very rare. Here is the second rule:

  • the upper objects with the number of non-max holes must be obtained as is

An example with the object below:

  • Superior Guerrre harness, 2 holes via Lazruk, on an elite version it would have been 4

The power of the base object

Third element to take into account, the value of the base object, which vary enormously. Here are some examples :

  • Twilight Shroud: 361-467
  • Archon's Plate: 410-524

Conclusion

Here is thus if you want to have the best base of the game for for example an Enigma, you must have all these conditions met when the object is drop:

  • have an Archon's Plate with three holes
  • not ethereal
  • higher
  • with good armor value
  • with additional defense, if possible 15%!

Which makes an extremely rare item to obtain! With the example below:

  • she has an armor of 524 and is therefore perfect, this armor will be the best possible basis for enigma and is very (very) expensive!

Alchemists dm gaming

I hope that the number of holes associated with the items and their price will be much clearer in Diablo 2 Resurrected! So remember to keep your eyes open and look at all the higher gray objects you find on your farms!
