A new Diablo 3.5?

Diablo Immortal takes place 20 years after Diablo 2 and the most unfortunate point is the classes and skills very similar to Diablo 3. An effort could have been made rather than choosing security. There are, however, the practical aspects of a 2022 game, with guild features, more diverse endgame activities and of course new areas and bestiary. The design is also neat with new cutscenes. It's kind of like Diablo 3 was released in 2022, so there are pros and cons.

Here is what is similar to D3:

  • classes, skills
  • some sounds and noises
  • elite monster powers
  • loopholes
  • the sanctuaries
  • equipment

Here's what's new:

  • character customization
  • dungeon, raid activities
  • PVP
  • crossplay pc mobile
  • daily quests and rewards
  • story and boss
  • new paragons
  • upgraded war troops and clans

Pay 2 win? Pay 2 fast?

Before switching to Diablo Immortal, it is important to know the definitions of P2W and P2F:

  • Pay 2 Win, in French "pay to win" means that the player who spends the most money will be the best or at the top of the ranking
  • Pay 2 Fast, in French "payer pour aller vite" means that paying will allow you to avoid spending time farming to recover equipment
  • these notions may seem slightly similar, but a key border between the two is to have objects only accessible with real money

In the case of Diablo Immortal, the problem is a bit more complicated:

  • you can in theory get everything in the game without paying
  • you can buy legendary gems, reforge stone and platinum, which frankly makes no sense

Note all the same, that Diablo Immortal offers a whole range of rewards without paying, whether in a standard way through quests, the free battle pass or completions.

Keep in mind that you will therefore have to quadruple the effort to compete with a player who spends money in the game, even if it is impossible to buy pieces of equipment (except legendary gem) directly with money. real money, the boosts provided by purchases are simply considerable. You can play quietly in PvE without spending a penny, but if you want to face other players in PvP or reach the top of the ranking, it will be extremely complicated.

If we talk about mechanics, Diablo Immortal is a good mobile game. It is well built and made, however it is quite incomprehensible to have duplicated so many elements of Diablo 3 combined with an overly extensive real money shop. As it stands, Diablo Immortal fulfills its objective, namely to be a mobile game "waiting" for Diablo 4, even if some decisions on the store side and a greater diversity of classes and skills would make it a very good one. Game.
