Act 3 Challenge Dungeon Port Valbury

Act 3 Challenge Dungeon: find in this guide all the information about this dungeon, including Outskirt, Foundation and Old Town!

In a few words

Below is the main info of this dungeon:

  • The difficulty is medium, you should be able to get by with resistors cap
  • Primary Damage Aether, Poison
  • Lots of aether crystals to collect
  • Beware of the Flesh Hulks and especially Aether Abomination, which do a lot of damage
  • The maps are as follows: Port Valbury Outskirts, "Skeleton Key", Foundations, Old Town, High Town (end)

Port Valbury Outskirts

Starting from Homestead Act 3, go through conflagration (just below to the right of Homestead), and look for the rift at the top left, you will reach Outskirts. This map is quite long, so do not hesitate to cut the path to go directly to the boss. Remember to collect the aether crystals!

The boss of the area is the Herald of the Stars, rather complex to knock down knowing that he summons powerful Flesh Hulks. Be careful, unlike the rest of the dungeon, its damage is ice and aether. Consider doing a tp in case you die, then use a skeleton key to move to the next area.

Port Valbury Foundations

This area is honestly of very little interest. Go through it as quickly as possible while avoiding dying and collecting the crystals! Take the door to reach the next level.

Port Valbury Old Town

This is where the dungeon really begins, be careful to be on your guard as the difficulty suddenly increases. Go straight to the bottom of the map on your left to "fall" in a surprise attack and kill the elites. Then take a right to find the boss Watcher Ordas. It doesn't hurt terribly but keep your distance if you don't have a lot of life.

Continue the map, then after crossing the river (or expanse of water, in short when your feet are wet), go to the cemetery on your left to start a fight against a large number of elites and mobs. Be careful, it stings! The loot will be present but avoid dying!

Continue to progress on the map normally to go to the north end of it, to fight boss Jarren the Plaguewarped. This one will run over you all the time, don't forget to kite! This last defeated, retrace your steps to go through a slightly hidden blue opening, located at the top right of the map. It is not indicated so open your eyes!

Port Valbury High Town

The last map of the dungeon is rather linear. You go straight ahead by describing a loop on the right and will take again a bridge which will pass over the place where you start the map. You will successively face Watcher Brandis and Watcher Ygraad, who are very similar, as well as that of the previous map.

Merchant Agarrad will be in this map, in three possible spawn locations (East, South or North).

At the end of the bottom of the dungeon, you will enter the "throne room" and face three bosses at once: Councilman Hallos, Councilm Garl, Overlord Van Aldritch. They are not particularly difficult, just remember to keep your distance to avoid all three at the same time! They will have a "mario party" style icon which indicates if they are under the effect of the buff of a scepter increasing their resistances: basically type the one without the buff then the others!

Finally, you will have an area with Katrine, an NPC that will give lore and a clue on the coming of the Ashes of Malmouth DLC, no need to extort a quest from her, she will not give you any and will stay there!

One of the reasons I hate the Aether! But courage, with a little patience and equipment you will be able to overcome this dungeon 🙂
