Endgame Last Epoch, the dungeons, monoliths and arena guide SlashingCreeps

The Last Epoch endgame in a nutshell

After having completed the entire Last Epoch story, several activities are available to you and make up the endgame of the game:

  • the Monoliths, ten in number, a succession of short instances where you will have to complete a mission. Each successful instance gives you stability to face the monolith boss. Completing these monoliths allows you to acquire blessings that enhance your character.
  • The dungeons, currently three, each dungeon has its own mechanics and a different reward at the end. Be careful if you die you will have to start over.
  • The Arena, a reduced area where you will face several waves of monsters. After several waves you will face an arena boss.

The monoliths

There are 10 monoliths to complete that you can start exploring when you arrive at End of Time, you don't have to finish the story completely. This can allow you to recover a few levels before tackling the final acts of the story.

Each monolith unfolds in the same way:

  • You choose an instance to complete based on the reward you're interested in. The instance grants a bonus to your enemies but increases your experience gained and your drop rate. Instances are for example killing a boss, destroying pillars or patrolling monsters.
  • With each successful instance, you gain stability for the monolith. The more enemies you kill during this instance, the more bonus stability you gain.
  • If you succeed in your mission, you can exit the area and collect the instance's reward (crystal in the middle of the area) as well as the chest on your right.
  • You must repeat these steps to strengthen the stability of the monoliths, creating a "path" of monolith.
  • When you have accumulated enough stability, you will have access to three Echoes which correspond to two intermediate quests and the boss of the monolith. Once the boss is killed you will have the right to choose one blessing among three, then 5 thereafter.
  • It is still more profitable to go directly to the objective of the instance and then move on to the next one, even if the more monsters you eliminate in the instance, the more the reward chest will be filled.

Once the basic monoliths are completed, you will have access to the Empowered version:

  • You must complete at least the three monoliths level 90 (The Last Ruin, Spirits of Fire, The Age of Winter) in order to unlock all the monoliths in Empowered version. Don't forget to click on the "chest" in the middle of the three areas to unlock the Empowered levels.
  • The Empowered version gives you access to a greater challenge: the monsters are all level 100, the corruption of the area is at least 100. In return you will have better drops in the instance but also when choosing the area.
  • Corruption can accumulate indefinitely, be careful however that the higher the corruption, the more the monsters will be robust and will inflict damage on you, but the higher the drop and the experience will be.
  • The higher the corruption, the higher the stability per instance.
  • The blessings you will get in Empowered will be higher than their normal version.
  • In Empowered version you can directly do the boss without going through the intermediate quests.

As you explore the monolith, you will have the opportunity to face Orobyss. There are several versions of Orobyss (one per damage type), each with unique attacks. Defeating Orobyss will then increase your monolith's corruption and reset your monolith path. In endgame Empower you will seek to increase your level of corruption. To do this you must do the following:

  • Kill the monolith boss to stack a Gaze of Orobyss, which will give you 8 Corruption per Gaze when you kill Orobyss
  • The further away you are from your starting area, the greater the amount of corruption given by Orobyss upon his death.
  • If you have other monoliths with a high corruption level you will get an additional corruption bonus when you kill Orobyss.
  • If the level reached is too high for you, then you can decrease the level of corruption by killing Orobyss as close as possible to your starting point.

Dungeons

There are three dungeons with different interest and mechanics. Each dungeon is accessible by its own key, which you will obtain either by dropping during an instance or by choosing a key as a monolith reward. To get to the dungeon, right click on the key, the game will offer you to teleport to the area. Each dungeon is accessible in 4 different levels called "tiers", the higher the third, the more the monsters will be powerful and the drops interesting. The boss can also give you drops only accessible to higher thirds. If you die during the dungeon you will have to start over by consuming a new key.

Dungeon The Lightless Arbor

This dungeon offers you to move in the dark, with a crystal that will act as light. You can choose to keep the crystal on you or move it to your cursor and a key on the keyboard. You will have 100 base stacks of "light" on your crystal, when you take damage you will lose stacks as well as luminosity. When you eliminate monsters your stacks will increase and the luminosity of the crystal with it. You will have to explore several levels until you face the dungeon boss. For this boss, you must light the two pyres on the left and right of the area to make your way to its heart and thus defeat it.

If you beat the boss you will have access to the Vault of the Uncertain Fate, it is an NPC. This giant door offers you to increase your chest rewards for gold coins. You can accumulate up to 12 different bonuses and have access to a maximum of 6 chests. It is strongly advised to have a lot of gold coins (several million) in order to make the most of the bonuses offered.

Dungeon The Temporal Sanctum

This dungeon invites you to explore a palace full of snakes in different timelines. Certain paths will be blocked to you in one timeline while in the other they will be unblocked. So remember to explore these two areas well to reach the boss Julra. This boss is quite difficult to do and will require some knowledge of its patterns to change timelines at the right time.

If you manage to defeat him you will have access to the Eternity Cache. This chest allows you to fuse a unique item with Legendary Potential (LP) with an exalted item. Each difficulty tier allows you to merge an additional line onto your unique. If you have 4 LP on your unique you will have to do a Tier 4 dungeon to be able to fully fuse your item, otherwise you will lose the LP that are not used.

Dungeon The Soulfire Bastion

This dungeon offers you to face enemies inflicting necrotic or fire damage. In order to survive its exploration you will have in your possession a Soulfire Shield. This skill specific to this dungeon allows you to block necrotic or fire damage. Soulfire is made up of two types of soul stacks (a necrotic and a fire), killing enemies of one element will increase the dedicated stack and taking a hit will decrease it. This shield is very useful to survive the boss of the dungeon especially in high tier.

If you survive the fight you will have the right to speak to the Soul Gambler. This NPC redeems your remaining Soulfire stacks for items, so you may have the chance to get dungeon-specific uniques or Exalted. You will therefore have to be very careful to keep as many souls as possible if you want to buy as many items as possible from the seller.

the arena

The Arena invites you to face successive waves of enemies and then confront a boss who will give you an exclusive item. It is accessible by using an Arena Key, You have 4 different tiers increasing loot and experience as well as an endless mode to push your character to the limit. Regarding the infinite mode, a Key of Memory will give you access to an arena level close to the one where you had stopped previously. This will allow you not to start from scratch every time.

Before facing the boss of the Arena you will have to defeat several series of 10 monster waves. When you have beaten a streak you will then be able to pick up several rewards and the choice to continue to the next streak. There are currently three different Arena bosses that correspond to shadows of playable characters: Sentinel, Rogue, and Primalist. They have the skills of their class and you can get an object related to this class.

Last Epoch's Endgame is extensively provided and you won't have anything to get bored of. Keep in mind that monoliths and tiers of dungeons are tied to a character. If you restart a character you will have to redo all the monoliths and dungeons as well.
