Tips

Here are some tips for mastering Hecarim:

  • Use the bushes: these allow you to have the initiative, you will give the first blow because you have the vision on the enemy and not him. You are also invisible, or impossible to hit by ranged auto-attacks, which forces the enemy to come in melee, where you are very difficult to fall.
  • The trade: Hecarim has life steal and from your trinity insane damage. You can very easily kill an enemy even if you have less health than him. As soon as you see that you are going to die, think about sticking everything in the head of the most attractive enemy (easy to aim, little health, little sustain etc). You will very often manage to kill him and make money from your death!
  • Use the move speed: you are an ultra fast horse, the fastest in the game. Use it to bait, farm the jungle quickly, gank as much as possible, etc!
  • Focus in combat: your R must aim at an essential target at all costs, such as the ADC or the mid in the video. Watch out for items like Zhonya or Chrono, which can completely destroy your engage. Remember to go snipe a target with your R, as well as use it in defense to save an ally. Once on your priority target, don't let go! You have enough move speed and gap close to be able to kill anyone.
  • The use of knockback: Hecarim's E repels a lot. You can flash behind a target and push it back towards your towers, or even push an enemy into an area or spell (on Brand's Ultimate video). The combo possibilities are endless but hard to achieve and will take a little practice!

Runes

Here are the runes to take:

  • Precision
    • Conqueror: increases your strength
    • Thriomphe: healing on a kill and extra po
    • Alacrity: attack speed on a kill
    • Finishing move: damage dealt increased if enemy low hp

You've probably run into Hecarim before, either on your team or across the way. Its power is no longer to be discussed, but it remains complicated to optimize! With these tips you should do better, to master it or to counter it!
