How Torchlight Infinite skills and energy work

You can equip:

  • 5 active skills
  • 3 aura passive skills
  • each can equip five modifiers, which costs energy

Torchlight Infinite skills and modifiers

Skills are divided into several categories:

  • Attack, Spell: anything considered an attack or spell
  • Mobility: to move around
  • Curse: for debuffs
  • Warcries: for buffs and taunts
  • Physical, Fire, Cold, Lightning, Erosion: for damage type
  • Melee and Ranged: for range
  • Shadow attack, slash attack, demolisher and projectile: for weapon type (sword, mace, etc)
  • Horizontal, parabola, area, persistent, channeled: for the shape of the skill
  • Defensive: to protect yourself
  • Active: a spell to be activated to gain a boost
  • Recovery: for healing
  • Summoning, Sentinels: for creatures
  • Terra: for the specificity related to terra
  • Laser: for rays
  • Barrage: spells that fall from the sky (blizzard for example)
  • Chain: anything that travels from one target to another

It is especially very important to take spells linked to your damage boosts, for example a fire mage who recovers fire talents will have every interest in specializing in fire spell skills and not in ice attacks. Modifiers follow these tags, however you can't have for example an attack modifier on a spell.

Torchlight Infinite Auras and Modifiers

Skills are divided into several categories:

  • Trigger: conditionally activated
  • Attack, Spell: linked to skill type
  • Physical, cold, fire, lightning, erosion: linked to the type of damage
  • Melee, Projectile: for the type of weapon used
  • Imbued: to affect your weapon
  • Invocation: related to invocations
  • Zone, persistent: for the type of effect
  • Spirit Magus: to summon a spirit

You will also have every interest in choosing your auras well to complement the skills of your character but also of your team. Modifiers follow these tags, however you can't have for example an attack modifier on a spell.

Energy Torchlight Infinite

Unlocking a modifier and activating an aura costs energy, with energy being upgraded with your level and gear:

  • for skills: 0, 10, 15, 50 then 100
  • for auras: 10, 10, 15, 50 then 100

If you equip 5 skills and 3 auras without modifiers, you will therefore have 30 energy used. With a modifier on each skill, you will increase to 80 (3x10 + 3x10). You'll want to balance your modifiers well and not waste 100 energy on a single spell! Note that you can change your setup as you see fit.
